Maybe someone should make an essay about the relevance of Utattemita in Vocaloid songs popularity…
Because people doesn’t seem to understand that good tuning won’t bring you anywhere without catchy music. Catchy music will attract covers, thus making the song more well known, even if the tuning is below average. This exactly what happened to most popular producers (the ones that have subpar tuning, not that everyone’s bad tuner)
You dislike Jin’s IA? Think doesn’t fit with the music? Well, there are HUNDREDS covers of said song, all you need is choose whichever the fuck you like. Covers exist for that reason.
I admit that I disliked Shueen no Shiori at first due to the tuning, but then Mafumafu did covers… I like it.
Random note: Oh, you said that Nem’s tuning in Virgin Suicide is bad and unfitting for Vocaloid? Well, you know what? That song was originally made to be sung by human singers (Clear & Mi-chan), and actually few months older than its Vocaloid ver.
